Namna ya kuweka mipaka kwenye matumizi ya simu zetu

Hello welcome ,as kichwa cha habari kinavosema today we'll be looking at how to limit ourselves from spending too much time with our mobile phones, or naweza nkawa more specific how to limit ourselves to use our mobile phones wisely. Then mtu anaeza akajiulza what's spending much time wisely and unwisely?

That's  a good question but I think there's no need to explain a lot of words kila mtu anaelewa matumizi mazur ya simu and here am not talking about social media addiction peke yake but the constant disturbances that we get from our mobile phones when tunafanya mambo ya muhimu like studying ,for those who are students kama mie wanaelewa what am talking about or even when we are engaged with something so serious apart from studying, example when at the office doing work and you just can't resist touching your phone whether ni text ya kawaida or just uwashe data uingie mtandaon kidogo uangalie what's new, or even uangalie picha zako ambazo umezipiga mda mrefu unazo kwenye simu mda wote but just uziangalie tuuu or others utakuta ana miziki kwenye simu or videos but due to the addiction and how we are attached to our mobile phones, we do these things in the middle of more important matters that require our focus and concentration.
This is all due to lack of self control, which is the ability to choose what we want to do at a particular time and be strict to ourselves, but if we start talking about self control it's not very appropriate since it is a whole independent field of study which can not be presented lightly so we'll leave it for now but maybe later we might talk about it.
Then, first tutaanza kujiongelea sisi wenyewe kuhusiana na nini tufanye? so as to limit our prolonged exposures to our mobile phones and avoid the disturbances leading us to post-pone our important matters by interacting with our phones. As far as the post is concerned am basing more on the time consuming effects of our mobile phones to our lives and not the health related effects.
So associating oneself with his/her mobile phone leads to something called procrastination which simply means kuacha kitu flani ambacho kinahitajika mda huo kama tulivoongelea case hii ya kutumia mda mwingi na simu to the extent that we lose precious time to other productive activities.
What should be done to avoid this?
Answering the question above inategemea na mtu mwenyewe yupo tayari kiasi gani, trust me kuna watu they can't leave their phones even for a minute but are they ready to do what it takes? wanafahamu madhara ya kupoteza mda kwa jinsi hii?

In this post ntagusia kidogo the common things ambavyo kila mtu anafaham but just a reminder is needed, the things are as follows;

  • Procrastinate about procrastinating - Hapa tunamaanisha hivii if you are very good, yani upo vizuri sana at kuupuzia mambo ya msingi, then try kupuuzia tabia hiyo mbaya ya kupuuzia mambo ya msingi, simple like that.
  • Start somewhere - This means that you need to avoid all the distractions by starting at  a certain point in what you are doing, meaning that you have to be specific in what you are doing maybe say to yourself am starting here before actually going to do the thing.
  • Break it down - There is a famous saying that "The journey of a thousand miles, starts with a single step" make up tiny habits ambazo utakuwa wazifanya kila siku for a specific period of time but you have to make sure they happen everyday that goes by. Or for the case of studying you can say at this time nasoma from  here to here, similar to working.
  • Be kind to yourself - This means that you have to avoid the feeling of disappointment that comes when you have not achieved a certain task. Because things just happen sometimes without our precise consciousness due to the influence of friends or our mobile phones as mentioned earlier. The feeling of disappointment actually makes us miserable eventually making us feel incapable if it happens several times.
  • Schedule it - This thing about timetables imekuwa ikijirudia almost our entire lives from nursery to university but only a few percentage of us take it serious when it comes to kuandaa the perfect timetable, but what we fail to realize ni kwamba we are missing a lot of things particularly wastage of time. Kwa kudokeza kidogo tu a good timetable needs to have the daily drill (vitu ambavyo lazima uvifanye kila siku) also the hang time (mda ambao unajipa for relaxation because you deserve it), the hang time comes only baada ya kuhakksha umefanya each and everything on your timetable.

The next part of this post ni kuhusiana na nini tufanye to our mobile phones? if we are failing to control them mentally.
Lucky for us ,app developers wametengeneza baadhi ya application ambazo zinaweza kufanya limitations kwenye matumizi ya simu zetu but hapa tunarudi kwenye lile swali kwamba mhucka yupo tyr kufanya kinachotakiwa (vitu kama installation ya hizi application). Hapa I'll give a list of the applications to use and explain about how to use one called OFFTIME in particular.

List of applications to enable us limit our mobile phone usage.

How do these applications function is that they you set up a profile and you will be allowed access to applications that you've chosen while all the rest will be blocked and not only applications pia unaweza ukablock text messages and calls if you think kwel wahitaji such amount of concentration and focusing, limited to all distractions.
So unaweza ukaacha applications kama PDF viewers (mf. WPS office) wakati wa kujisomea or gallery to view notes zilizopgwa picha, it all depends with your priorities. "The principle is to fight fire with fire (Dawa ya moto ni moto)"
Let's have a look at the top ten applications but as mentioned I'll explain about the use of the app "OFFTIME".

  1. Offtime - This apps allows you to create profiles by specifying the time you want the profile to be activated and end. Gives you information on how much you actually use your phone. The analytics can help you becoming aware of your current status and make the necessary adjustments.
  2. Breakfree - This app tracks your usage including how much you unlock your phone providing you with usage statistics. It makes it easy for the ones interested in settting goals and challenging themeselves by providing you with an addition score for self evaluation.

  3. Flipd - The mode of action is the same lakini hii inakuzuia completely from accessing your mobile phone na hauwezi kuondoa once ukiiweka even restarting you phone won't help. Flipd pia ina uwezo wa kufunga simu ya rafiki yako thus useful in teams or groups when the users have agreed to use it that way, for example in a discussion group mnaweza mkazuiana kutumia simu kwa makubaliano baina yenu.
  4. Stay on task -  This functions kwa kubembeleza sana simply asks you during random times of the day if you are still on the tasks ulzojiwekea. So if you easily get distracted this app is useful to get you back on track.
  5. Quality time -  Allows you to create profiles to which you specify when to take a break and when to unplug from your phone, provides you with in-depth analysis and statistics for self evaluation. Also the ability to block calls, kuzuia text messagges allowing you kuruhusu numbers unazotaka zikupate kwa mda huo au kutuma custom messages like now am doing something, all these are done automatically.

There are many applications out there, apps ambazo zinaweza zikawa bora kuliko the ones I have mentioned kinachohitajika it's just the readiness to engage oneself with such extreme control measures.
All you have to do is install your application ,the ones mentioned above zinapatikana on Google Play Store. Hapa ntaelezea a little bit about the application OFFTIME as promised which is very simple to use once you have the intention.
Download the application from google play store, it's free.

Or you may click the link above to download the OFFTIME app.

Then you'll be required to write your name, also upload a photo for your profile (it's optional)
Then utaulzwa matumizi yako with the application either just to avoid using your phone for work etc. also kama unataka ulale bila usumbufu (it's possible pia) or matumizi mengne.
Then you'll provide a name for your profile and asked kama unataka izuie notifications zisionekane bar ya simu yako.
Next utaulizwa endapo you want calls and text messages to be blocked by the app (it's all upto you)
Then you'll be asked to select the applications that you want to be accessible, the ones ambazo hutazichagua hutoweza kuzifungua so you have to choose wisely, mf. kwa wanafunzi wenzangu  we use our mobile phones to study so we can allow access to apps like WPS Office also the gallery since some notes znakuwa zimepigwa picha.
So after that you are all set, what remains is activating your profile for a certain period of time that you specify yourself, it's very easy.

Well the post doesn't need to be extremely long, it has to end somewhere and upto here I can say the end has been reached.
All that remains is for us to think very deep as to whether we really need limitations to our mobile phones, they do provide us with lots of benefits lakini sometimes simu zetu zinatupotezea muda, directing us to do other things apart from those are most important such as studying, work, praying etc.
The post is mostly dedicated to my fellow university students, it's undisputable that most of us hatuwezi kusoma with focus and concentration when our mobile phones are around us, I am also a victim so I insist that you guys also take a look at this and simply try installing one of the listed applications so that we can unplug from our phones for a specific period of time then after that we may look at the funny youtube videos that we love, the instagram posts, the whatsapp messages, the facebook posts etc.
